Project Update - Real Made Up Stories
Congratulations to Phil Crawford and Coequal who are in the running for not one, but three gongs at the inaugural SONARR Awards (Australia's brand-new national audio awards) for their podcast series Real Made Up Stories.
The podcast is a finalist in three categories (Audio Production Award, AFTRS Narrative Excellence Award, Visual Identity Award), putting it in a three-way tie for the most nominations of any podcast nationally.
Coequal is also the most-nominated independent production company in the country this year, across two shows.
The winners are announced on 15 October in Sydney.
About Coequal and Real Made up Stories
Coequal creates podcasts, films and more with a focus on community and social change. In 2024, Culture Bank members provided $2000 towards to help them get Real Made Up Stories off the ground.
The stories are drawn largely from the Illawarra, made with the young people and communities who lived them. They mix local history, public housing, including a story about Aboriginal and settler contact in the region.
