Project Update - Bogan Bird
With Bogan Bird officially taking flight on YouTube, creator Holly Trenaman has taken time out for a shout out to our fantastic Culture Bank members who provided funding support in 2025.
“I need to thank Culture Bank in Wollongong for a grant that they gave us recently to my company, but also to support our first short film, Bogan Bird, which we filmed in my hometown, Wollongong. “
“They have given us the chance to keep distributing this film. This film has also helped launch the company, but also my acting career.”
“But the film festival circuit is so expensive, and people don't budget for that when they're making a short film. We certainly didn't. “
“I had to fly back to Australia to act in this film, and there wasn't even a budget to start with. We were all just chipping in money, working for free.”
“To have community support in the post-production and in the distribution kind of process is pivotal to even get this film out to any audiences.”
“Short films technically never make money, but they're a launchpad for careers and for potentially larger series of that same idea, like a proof of concept.”
“So yes, huge thank you to Culture Bank. We literally could not do this without all our sponsors and the community funding, and it's so special.”
